A little back story to how I ended up at Confetti

After a year of playing around with a bunch of front end dev students at Nackademin I found myself trying to figure out how to spend my summer, preferably in an relaxing way as humanly possible. I thought? a beach holiday or a metropolitan vacation.

What I eventually decided on was far from my original thought. JOIN A STARTUP! or more specifically Confetti.

Wait a minute, before I start I should give you some quick facts about myself. I was born in southern Serbia, raised in the suburbs of Stockholm, I’m a former basketball genius and an aspiring tech-savvy maker. Yes, that sums it up quite nicely :)

How I went from hardcore athlete to geeky developer is a story for another time.

Confetti is a gang of happy-go-lucky people, they are the greatest co-workers an intern could wish for and I am not just saying that because they are standing behind me as I’m writing this. In the short period of a week they’ve become like a second family. We’re currently getting ready to go for quick swim here in Gamla stan. This has become somewhat of a tradition during the few weeks of summer here in Stockholm.

Welcoming the summer at Knackeriet, people from Knackeriet. Almost the whole Confetti team is present in photo except Jonny who is behind the camera :D

We decided that the best way for me to understand and get a grip of things was basically to dive right in and start learning by failing :)

I draw the parallel to the way I was raised, my father didn’t believe in the step by step learning. The way you learn to swim is by finding yourself in the deepest part of the pool and figuring out how not to drown. So now I’ve already worked with several features for the Confetti service and it turn out I’m a really good swimmer!

My ambition with joining Confetti was that I could spend some time learning how everything worked and step by step being introduced to more and more challenging tasks. Even though my experience with the JS programming language is primarily based on the fundamentals, what has made the difference is my curiosity and drive to learn new things which is quite easy to enhance with these people.

Other fun stuff that’s happened this week at Confetti was that a film crew came in to make a portrait of Martina Elm for a documentary about the Internet. Hollywood moved in and there were a lot of laughs to say the least. For example, they followed the team when they took a swim by Riddarholmen and when they went to a party at Trädgården which was organized by one of their customers.

There is a tremendous support for an intern here at Confetti, I am part of a very small team that has a great chemistry and love what they do. The team works in a co-working space for tech entrepreneurs called Knackeriet. All in all, this working environment is primarily defined by a atmosphere that encourages everyone to c-r-e-a-t-e with value.

It’s been an amazing first week and I can’t wait to come to work and play everyday.
